August 9th to 15th is National Allotments Week! This year, the National Allotments Society is focussing on the theme of “Plotting for the Future”; celebrating the contribution that allotments make to a sustainable future.

Shepton Mallet Town Council are proud to offer residents Allotments across three sites in the Town: Hitchin Lane, Whitstone Road and Allyn Saxon Drive. Post-pandemic, the opportunity to hold and allotment is more popular than ever and the waiting list has never been so full!

Current and future plot holders will delight at the decision of the Recreation, Amenities and Environment Committee, who last night (August 10th 2021) voted to freeze allotment rents for next year. In addition to this, the committee welcomed the receipt of Section 106 monies through Mendip District Council for a variety of improvements to all three allotment sites in the town. The improvements are scheduled to take place over the autumn and the Town Council are liaising with any plot holders that will be directly affected by the scheduled works. We apologise for any inconvenience, but the improvements as asked for by plot holders will be well worth any disruption!
