Autumn is well and truly with us and many town centre businesses are gearing up for their busiest time of year – Christmas Day is only 71 days away! To help enhance the centre over the next few weeks, the Town Council is having some high-level bunting and banners installed on Sunday evening to add some colour. In the future, this bunting will be hung in the summer. It is being funded by the government’s “Welcome Back Fund” administered by Mendip District Council which has just been made available to us so we thought we’d test it out in the lead up to the festive season. The Christmas lights will go up as soon as the bunting comes down at the end of November.

Once Autumn is out the way, you’ll see the Winter Events programme advertised. Incorporating many well known and loved regular seasonal events as well as brand new ones, we’re excited to help promote these in a similar way to the Summer series, the thinking being they can all be larger than the sum of their parts. Watch this space for further details.

And a reminder that all the above has been coordinated by our small but dedicated team of staff members, one of which, our Project Officer, is due to go on maternity leave shortly. We are recruiting for maternity cover so if you think you have the skills and passion to contribute to the town, see our website for how to apply.

Until next time,

Matt Harrison
