The Winter Series kicked off with a bang with the Shepton Mallet Fireworks Display on Saturday (5th November). Following last year’s very successful Winter Series, Shepton Mallet Town Council is excited to bring back the programme for a second consecutive year.
The series started as a way to support the arts and creative industries post-pandemic, ensuring local people were still able to access cultural activities at a difficult time. The need and importance to bring locally accessible entertainment and activities for all ages continues to be as relevant this year, and with a full programme that runs until March 2023 there is something for everyone.
The programme highlights how active Shepton Mallet’s cultural scene is and how lucky we are to be home to a great number of artists, performers and creatives of all kinds, with some of the town’s most popular celebrations taking place during the winter including the Carnival, Window Wanderland, Lantern Parade, Christmas Lights and the Snowdrop Festival.
Some of the highlights include free theatre performances at St Paul’s Junior School and Whitstone School, forest school workshops for adults and stained-glass workshops at Windsor Hill Wood and Rock Farm, respectively, literary festival at the Art Bank and Library and an opportunity for young people to build their own play area at Rock Farm.
Full details of what is taking place, including instructions on how to book certain events, can be found on the Winter Series page.
