Shepton Mallet Town Council are calling for design idea submissions from the public for a new shelter in Collett Park. In Spring 2023, the council agreed to spend up to £6,000 on the creation of a new shelter to be located beside the pond. There is currently only the one shelter in Collett Park, located by the table tennis and table football.

The council would like to invite the public to submit their ideas for what the new shelter will look like. The ideas will then be worked up into a final design which will be commissioned for construction.

The brief:

The shelter should be able to accommodate between 6 and 10 people and its main purpose is to offer cover from the rain. From a crime prevention perspective, visibility in and out of the shelter should be good. The total budget for the creation of this shelter is £6,000. The new shelter is expected to be used by many different park users; such as model boaters, bird watchers, park runners, artists, exercise classes and strollers.

Process:

Please email your design ideas to projects@sheptonmallet-tc.gov.uk before 31 July 2023. Any questions can also be addressed here.
