Next Tuesday sees the launch of Shepton’s Snowdrop Festival; firmly one of the highlights of our cultural calendar, a number of events will be taking place between 15 and 27 February.

Highlights include walking the James Allen Heritage Trail, arts and antiques trails and numerous workshops next Friday and Saturday including Seasonal flower post making, moss willow hanging basket making and wire sculpture making workshops. The festival culminates with the unveiling of a new obelisk at the cemetery to commemorate James Allen, the ‘snowdrop king’.

All details of the festival can be found at www.sheptonsnowdrops.org.uk or on their Facebook page.

The Town Council is proud to be a financial supporter of this initiative; it provides not only an opportunity to celebrate our heritage but also our beautiful surroundings; the snowdrops are popping up everywhere thanks to the hard works of volunteers planting them over the past few years. Well done to everyone involved!

Until next time,

Matt Harrison, Chair, Shepton Mallet Town Council
