Tell us a little bit about yourself (100 words max)

I moved to Britain from West Germany in 1986 to study violin making in Newark, Notts, there met my wife, who had grown up in Glastonbury. We established a business as makers in 1990 and moved to our current address in Shepton Mallet in 1993. We raised three daughters in our town who all attended local schools. I have taken an active interest in the local community from the start.

What motivated you to become a councillor?

I was coerced, never knew about the possibilities and only stepped into the role when it was possible to do so without any main party affiliations.

What do you enjoy most about the role?

Being able to play a part in an active community life and working in its improvements with other like-minded people

What’s the most frequent issue you deal with in your ward?

Dog poo not cleared from footpaths or hanging in bushes in poo bags.

Do you have any advice for anyone thinking about becoming a councillor?

Do it if you feel anything needs changing. Do not complain without being prepared to be part of a change.
